What is Page Authority?
Page Authority (PA) is a search engine ranking probability score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a single page is to rank in search engine results. Like Domain Authority, it uses a 100-point logarithmic scale, and is calculated based on multiple factors including backlinks pointing to the page, the strength of those backlinks, and other linking metrics.
Page Authority is critical for B2B SaaS companies publishing dozens of content resources.
- Content Hub Strategy: A B2B SaaS company publishing 50 blog posts, all within the same domain, should focus on building Page Authority for those specific blog posts, rather than just Domain Authority. Linking strategy matters: an internal link from a homepage (high PA) to a blog post (lower PA) will boost that blog post's Page Authority and its ability to rank.
- Link Building Prioritization: Link builders should focus on earning backlinks specifically for their key pillar or cluster content pages, not just their homepage.
- Competitive Analysis: During keyword research, marketers should compare Page Authority of competitor pages targeting the same keywords, not just their Domain Authority. A competitor might have high DA but low PA for their specific page targeting your keyword.
