What is User Experience (UX)?

User Experience (UX) encompasses all aspects of how a user interacts with a product or website, including usability, accessibility, aesthetics, and emotional response. Good UX makes products easy to use, enjoyable, and effective at achieving user goals.

User Experience is critical for B2B SaaS because it directly impacts customer satisfaction, retention, and word-of-mouth referrals.

  • Usability: A usable product is easy to learn and use. Users should be able to accomplish goals without confusion or frustration. Usability testing (with real users) reveals friction points that need to be fixed.
  • Accessibility: UX includes ensuring that products are accessible to users with disabilities (vision impairments, hearing loss, mobility limitations). Accessible products are legal (ADA compliance) and reach a larger audience.
  • Emotional Design: Beyond functionality, UX includes how a product makes users feel. Beautiful, delightful interfaces increase satisfaction and encourage word-of-mouth referrals. Ugly, frustrating interfaces drive users to competitors.

Example from Flowtrix Projects

For an enterprise SaaS application with poor UX (confusing navigation, cluttered dashboards, unclear CTAs), customer satisfaction scores were 60/100 and churn was high. We conducted extensive UX research, redesigned navigation and dashboards for clarity and usefulness, and improved onboarding. Customer satisfaction increased to 85/100 and churn decreased by 30%.
